Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease characterized by skin barrier defects, including ceramide deficiencies. Effective management often includes daily moisturizer with topical corticosteroid (TCS). Moisturizer composition has been shown to impact the quality of skin barrier support, which is crucial to atopic dermatitis (AD) management. 1This study evaluated the barrier support of a ceramide-containing moisturizer (CCM) compared to a paraffin-based moisturizer in children and adults being treated with topical corticosteroids (TCS) for mild-to-moderate AD.
