Emotional Burden
Beyond physical symptoms, acne vulgaris (AV) significantly affects emotional well-being, causing embarrassment, self-consciousness, anxiety, and depression. Treatments aim to clear and prevent lesions, reduce scarring and dyspigmentation, ultimately improving patients' quality of life (QoL).
Importance of Proper Skincare Regimen
The irritative potential of topical acne products and their tolerability is an important aspect that may affect patient adherence to prescribed therapies in real-world practice. Combining a proper skincare regimen (ie, gentle cleanser, moisturizer) with acne treatments may help to decrease their irritating potential, improve treatment adherence and treatment outcomes.
Study Design
In all, 137 subjects were enrolled in this multicentre, open-label, cohort study. All clinical assessments were conducted by the principal investigators.
Subjects completed a total of 4 study visits, over 3 months, as follows:
Visit 1: Screening and Baseline.
Visit 2: Week 4 (±3 days)
Visit 3: Week 8 (±3 days)
Visit 4: Week 12 (±3 days).
A self-reported questionnaire was completed at each visit to determine adherence to prescribed medication usage and adherence to IPs.
Results
Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale (GAIS) scores in the study showed improvement especially in the Visit 4 (week 12) for both the IP only group (Figure 1) and the IP + Retinoid group (Figure 2). The main effect of treatment group on the distribution of GAIS scores by visit was found not statistically significant.

The Ceramide-Containing Skincare Advantage
Barrier Stabilization: It neutralizes transepidermal water loss (TEWL), keeping the skin hydrated despite harsh medications.
Irritation Mitigation: It significantly reduces "retinoid dermatitis" symptoms like redness, peeling, and stinging.
Enhanced Compliance: By making the treatment process comfortable, it prevents patients from abandoning their medication, ensuring superior long-term results.
