NEW UK CLINICAL STUDY: Proves The Barrier Reinforcing Effects Of A Ceramide-containing Emollient

  • Apr 2025

  • Atopic Dermatitis and other dry skin conditions are caused by a defective skin barrier
  • Skin barrier dysfunction is associated with altered levels and composition of ceramides and lipids in stratum corneum

The BRaCE Study was designed to test the skin barrier reinforcing effects of CeraVe Moisturising Cream containing ceramides and MVE technology against a leading UK prescription emollient (O/W + Glycerine)

RESULTS:

1. CeraVe strengthens the skin barrier whilst the Rx emollient has no effect on the barrier at all

2. CeraVe reduces skin sensitivity and redness after exposure to a common household irritant proving it protects the skin

3. CeraVe reduces skin dryness faster than the Rx emollient

Restore I-II and BRaCE studies debunk the widely held belief that emollients inherently repair the skin barrier and that not all emollient formulations are the same.
