Addressing Facial Lazity in Patients on rapid weight loss treatment: A New Clinical Protocol for targeted Topical Lifting

The landscape of aesthetic medicine is currently navigating a significant increase in patients prescribed weight loss treatment. Patients on these medications often present with rapid facial volume loss and subsequent skin laxity—a phenomenon that occurs when systemic weight loss outpaces the skin’s natural ability to retract. For the physician, managing this structural "wellness gap" requires a targeted, science-backed intervention.

SkinCeuticals A.G.E. Interrupter Ultra Serum is a triple patented formula for individuals looking for non-invasive treatments or an adjunct to in-office procedures to address sagging skin. Clinically proven to deliver visible skin lifting of up to +11%1 when used alone, A.G.E. Interrupter Ultra Serum tightens 4 key areas from the face to the neck.

The Science of Structural Rescue: Key Ingredients

The A.G.E. Interrupter Ultra Serum is engineered with a high-potency 34.6% concentration of Flavo-Proxylane™ technology to combat the biochemical drivers of sagging skin—glycation and collagen degradation:

  • 30% Proxylane™: A double-patented active that stimulates the production of Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) and structural collagens (COL I, IV, VII, and XVII), reinforcing the Dermal-Epidermal Junction (DEJ) and restoring the skin’s "bounce-back" capability.
  • 4.6% Wild Fruit Flavonoids: A potent blend of Blueberry, Pomegranate, and Cassia Alata extracts. These work synergistically to reduce oxidative stress and inhibit the formation of Advanced Glycation End-products (A.G.E.s) that cause collagen fibers to become brittle.
  • 0.1% Rhamnose & 0.5% Gentiana Lutea Root: These actives provide additional support for skin firmness and contribute to a more sculpted, contoured appearance across the face and neck.

Conclusion: The Physician’s Role in the Wellness Journey

For the practitioner, the A.G.E. Regimen—pairing the A.G.E. Interrupter Ultra Serum with the A.G.E. Interrupter Advanced Cream—represents a comprehensive clinical tool for the modern wellness patient. This combined approach is specifically designed to address the accelerated signs of ageing by targeting multiple layers of the skin's matrix simultaneously.

Because aesthetic surgeries are often delayed until a patient’s weight has stabilsed for at least six months, the Serum and Cream regimen provides a vital, synergistic intervention to maintain and restore facial structural integrity throughout the weight loss process.5 By prescribing this physician-tested, dual-action protocol, you ensure that your patients’ facial aesthetic reflects the health, vitality, and confidence of their body transformation.

“SkinCeuticals are an expert in glycation. The products they have developed work seamlessly with my in-clinic procedures. Many of my treatments are designed to increase collagen production, and the A.G.E. family works alongside these helping prevent ageing signs impacted by collagen breakdown caused by glycation.” – Dr. Wassim Taktouk

  1. Study Protocol: A 12-week, single center double-blind clinical study was conducted on 76 female subjects (50% with self-declared sensitive skin), ages 35-66 and mild to moderate skin aging concerns corresponding severity evaluated by dermatologist. After cleansing, A.G.E. Serum has applied twice daily in the morning and evening on face and neck followed by a standard moisturizer and sunscreen (AM). Efficacy evaluations were conducted at baseline, week 1, week 4, week 8 and week 12.
  2. Study Protocol: A 12-week, randomized, double-blind, split-face and split-neck clinical study was conducted on N=25 patients undergoing GLP-1 receptor agonist therapy (Semaglutide or Tirzepatide; treatment lengths up to 3 years). The cohort included both men (8%) and women (92%), with a significant representation of diverse skin tones (Fitzpatrick Skin Types I-VI: II=36%, III=15%, IV=44%, V=2%, VI=3%). Age distribution: 36-44 (12%), 45-54 (32%), and >55 (56%). Subjects applied the A.G.E. Regimen or a placebo serum + cream twice daily. A single microfocused ultrasound (Sofwave) procedure was performed at Day 0 following 4 weeks of pre-treatment.
