INTRODUCTION

Atopic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder marked by periods of flare-ups and remissions. The condition arises from a complex interaction of immune system dysfunction, genetic factors compromising the epidermal barrier, and environmental factors. This disruption leads to intensely itchy skin lesions and scratching them further perpetuates the itch-scratch cycle. It is prevalent in up to 12% of children and 7.2% of adults, leading to significant healthcare utilization.
