Course Learning Objectives:

Over the sessions, participants will delve into the various presentations of eczema, assessment and examination of patients, clinical features, and the principles of eczema management. The course will explore a range of topics from bland emollients and soap substitutes to the potent corticosteroid ladder and the role of topical calcineurin inhibitors.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

1. Diagnose Different Eczema Types: Accurately identify and distinguish various eczema presentations, including atopic, follicular, discoid, varicose, and pompholyx eczema, understanding their unique clinical features and implications for treatment.
2. Comprehensive Patient Assessment: Master patient assessments by considering medical history, eczema triggers, psychological impact, and the specific challenges presented by eczema in skin of color.
3. Eczema Management Principles: Apply a holistic approach to manage acute and chronic eczema effectively, utilizing a range of treatments from emollients to corticosteroids and calcineurin inhibitors, while educating patients on correct usage to prevent flares and complications.
4. Patient-Centered Care Plans: Develop and implement personalized eczema management plans that address patient concerns, including diet, side effects, and lifestyle adaptations, ensuring maintenance therapy and long-term care considerations are met.
5. Complication Prevention and Response: Prepare to identify and manage potential eczema complications, such as infections and eczema herpeticum, and equip patients with the knowledge to confidently handle their condition.
